Summer Swimming Lessons
Foley Parks and Recreation Swimming Lessons are open to kids of all ages. Parents will be allowed to register
Ages 5 and Up:
We will offer the following Four Sessions of classes over the summer and each session will last two weeks.
Session 1: June 2nd - June 12th
Session 2: June 16th - June 26th
Session 3: July 7th - July 17th
Session 4: July 21st - July 31st
Each session will the following classes:
Morning Lessons: Mon. - Thurs. 10:00AM - 10:50AM - 8 spots for each Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Classes
Evening Lessons: Mon. - Thurs. 7:00PM - 7:50PM - 8 spots for each Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Classes
Please pay close attention to the class you choose when registering your children for swim lessons online. As noted above we have 2 time periods, Morning and Evening. We have 4 sessions and for each session there are 3 classes available: Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced.
Session 1B – If you see a B this is the Beginners class
Prerequisite – ages four and up.
The beginner class is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of swimming building confidence in the water for the swimmer.
Session 1I – If you see an I this is Intermediate class
Prerequisite – ages five and up. Completion of the beginner class. Ability to swim across the pool freestyle without stopping or using help.
The intermediate and advance course is designed to refine swimming strokes and will teach additional advanced strokes such as the side stroke and the butterfly.
Session 1A – If you see an A this is Advanced Class – Prerequisite – ages five and up. Breathe control and propulsion through the water using the crawl stroke. Participant must be comfortable with the water and not scared.
The advanced class is designed to teach the correct mechanical stroke technique for the freestyle and the backstroke. Upon completion of the class the swimmer, will be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted. The swimmer will also be introduced to the elementary backstroke, treading water, the breaststroke and an introduction to diving.
All swimming lessons will last 50 minutes each. The swimming lessons offered by the Foley Parks and Recreation Department are not certified by the Red Cross, but our swim coaches will follow the curriculum closely. To insure the students meet the prerequisites for each class every swimmer will be tested prior to beginning their class in order to help the swim coaches properly place them in the appropriate class.
Ages 4 and Under: Infant and Preschool Classes requires an adult participant.
Infant and Preschool Lessons are for 4 days : Mon. - Thursday July 28th - July 31st 6:00PM - 6:50PM
The infant and preschool class is designed to assist infants, young children and their parents in becoming familiar with the water and developing confidence through participation in a range of safe and enjoyable aquatic activities.
***If your child is not potty trained we require them to wear swim diapers.***
